MEET JEAN
Jean Gannon resides in Powhatan County, VA, where she has been an active member of the Powhatan County Republican Committee (PCRC) since 2008. Her extensive involvement within the committee spans multiple election cycles, during which she consistently supported Republican nominees through various campaign efforts, fundraising events, and vital operations on Election Day.
In 2016, Jean's unwavering dedication and leadership were recognized when she was elected as the Chair of the PCRC through a mass meeting. After assuming this role, she effectively led and guided the committee, ensuring its continued success and strong representation within the community. The remarkable achievements of the PCRC under Jean's guidance were acknowledged in 2018, as she was honored with the prestigious Unit Chair of the Year award. Subsequently, in 2019, the PCRC was bestowed with the esteemed Unit of the Year accolade at the RPV Advance, a testament to the exceptional work accomplished by the committee under Jean's stewardship. Jean's commitment to Republican principles can be traced back to the 2009 election of Governor Bob McDonnell, which ignited her full-throttle foray into politics. Since then, she has immersed herself in various Republican organizations, including the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV), the Virginia Federation of Republican Women (VFRW), and the Republican National Committee (RNC). Jean is an asset to every organization that she joins - including the VFRW. She played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Mill Quarter Republican Women's Club, and in 2020, Jean was elected President of this esteemed club, which operates as Powhatan's chartered club of the VFRW. In addition to her presidency, Jean served as co-chair of the VFRW Legislative Day Committee for five years. Under Jean's leadership, this event successfully brought together over 250 Republican women from across the Commonwealth, enabling them to advocate to their respective legislators during the General Assembly Session. Furthermore, Jean served as the Corresponding Secretary on the VFRW Executive Committee for two years, playing a vital role in facilitating effective communication and collaboration among club members. In 2021, Jean was elected as VFRW State Central Committee Representative, and she was unanimously re-elected in 2023.
Outside of her political engagements, Jean is a highly accomplished real estate appraiser. Holding the esteemed SRA and AI-RRS designations from the Appraisal Institute, she specializes in high-end residential real estate, and frequently testifies as an expert witness in cases involving real estate. Her expertise and contributions have been widely recognized within the industry, as demonstrated by her appointment to the Executive Committee and subsequent presidency of the Virginia Commonwealth Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 2016. Jean's commitment to excellence in her field also led to her active participation in regional and national committees associated with the Appraisal Institute.
Furthermore, Jean's significant contributions to the real estate industry were further acknowledged through her appointment to the Virginia Real Estate Appraiser Board by former Governor Bob McDonnell, where she served diligently from 2013 to 2018. During her tenure on the board, Jean leveraged her expertise and insights to make informed decisions that positively impacted the real estate appraisal profession in Virginia.
